Real estate tax – corporations and benefits under joint administration

Real estate tax decisions arrive in March.

Corporations receive only one real estate tax decision, even if they own real estate units in several municipalities. Previously, a separate real estate tax decision was made for each municipality where a real estate unit was located.

What to do when you receive a real estate tax decision

1. CHECK YOUR INFORMATION

Check that the information in the decision is correct. If it is correct, you do not need to do anything.

If the real estate tax decision has more than 200 pages, corporations will receive a condensed real estate tax decision. The condensed real estate tax decision includes the following:

  • Condensed real estate tax calculation (property identifier of the real estate unit and the share of real estate tax)
  • Amount of real estate tax
  • End date of real estate taxation
  • Due dates of real estate tax

2. CORRECT THE INFORMATION, IF NECESSARY

If there are errors or missing information in the real estate tax decision, correct the information in MyTax by 30 April 2024 at the latest. Corporations can no longer use a paper form to correct real estate information.

3. PAY THE REAL ESTATE TAX ON THE DUE DATE AT THE LATEST

For most corporations, the real estate tax due dates are 8 July 2024 and 6 September 2024. You can see your own due date on the real estate tax decision. If you make corrections to the real estate tax decision, the due dates of real estate tax may change. Note: When you pay real estate tax, remember to use the real estate tax reference number found on the real estate tax decision.

Instructions on how to use MyTax

You can download the CSV file on the real estate units from MyTax. You can download the CSV file in the customer information section when the real estate tax decision is in MyTax:

  • Click Show details on all tax years under Real estate tax on the homepage of MyTax.
  • Then click Download all real estate details as a CSV file on the right-hand side of the page that opens.

If there are more than 500 real estate units in at least two different municipalities, you can speed up the filing by filtering the real estate units being reported by municipality in MyTax. If you have selected several or all municipalities, using MyTax may slow down.

You can submit several real estate tax returns on the same day. For example, different agents can report the information on different municipalities or real estate units at the same time, which speeds up the process. This means that you can send several tax returns on the same day.

Select the municipality with the real estate units that have the information you want to check. After the municipality has been selected, your tax return will only show the information on the real estate units located in the municipality selected. You can check the information on a real estate unit located in a different municipality by opening a new tax return.

An authorisation is needed to manage tax issues. Read more about authorisations and granting them.
