How to change selections relating to refunds of self-assessed taxes in MyTax

You can change the selections relating to refunds of self-assessed taxes in MyTax. You can select the refund time and the refund limit (€), i.e. how big a refund amount is paid into your bank account. For example, if you have paid an excess amount of self-assessed taxes by mistake, you can request refunding of the excess amount in MyTax.

Log in to MyTax (opens in a new window)

  1. Select the Tax matters tab on the MyTax home page.

  2. Click the link Requesting refunds, self-assessed taxes in the Requests for refund section.

  3. Refund time and refund limit: You can change your refund time and refund limit by clicking Edit details.

    Refund request: To make a refund request, click the Request refund button. See the instructions on refund requests in section 6.

    Stage Return details: Select the return time from the options given. Enter a new refund limit in the New entry section.

  5. Stage Preview and send: Check that the details are correct. Finally, click Submit.

    Stage Return details: The page displays the refundable amount and the number of the bank account into which the Tax Administration will pay the refund. If you want to change the bank account number, see the instructions: How to submit a bank account number in MyTax.

    Enter the amount you wish to be refunded in the Amount of refund request section.

    You can also make a refund request by clicking Requesting refunds, self-assessed taxes in the Payment status section on the home page. The link is displayed only if you have an unused payment or credit for which a refund request can be made.

  7. Stage Preview and send: Check that the details are correct. Finally, click Submit.
