Test and develop in the testing environment

You can start developing software based on the interface descriptions.

Software developers must request a testing certificate for the different interfaces of the Vero API. The testing certificate allows you to try submitting and receiving data in the Tax Administration’s testing environment, which gives you static responses. You can access the testing environment by connecting to the interfaces’ test addresses with your testing certificate.

API access request and testing certificate

Request API access for testing and a testing certificate in the Testing certificates section of the Tax Administration’s certificate service.

API access request and testing certificate

  • 1

    Log in to the service

  • The Testing certificates section of the Tax Administration’s certificate service is for requesting API access and testing certificates needed in testing.

Identify yourself with your online banking codes, mobile certificate or certificate card. You do not need a Suomi.fi authorisation.

    • When you log in for the first time, enter your email address and telephone number.
    • You will receive a message asking you to confirm your email address. You can continue to the service after you have confirmed the address.
  • 2

    Request API access for testing

  • Select Vero API from the Tax Administration APIs and enter the information requested by the service.

  • 3

    Request a testing certificate

  • Select “Request a new testing certificate” in the e-service and enter the information requested by the service.

  • 4

The testing certificate is retrieved by a technical contact person

  • A technical contact person is responsible for retrieving the certificate and adding the certificate content to the software

Once you have submitted a certificate request, the technical contact person specified in the request will receive the information required to retrieve the certificate. After this, the certificate must be retrieved within 14 days.

    • After successful retrieval, the technical contact person specified in the application imports the test certificate into the software. If the user organisation does not have a valid test certificate, Vero API will not transmit the records the organisation requests.
    • Vero API responds to calls made with test certificates only after the test certificate has been retrieved and installed in the organisation’s environment. Certificates for Vero API are retrieved from the Tax Administration’s certificate service. In general, certificates generated in the certificate service during office hours (8.00 am to 4.15 pm) will work in Vero API calls at the latest on the following day.
  • If the testcertificate is not retrieved within 14 days, request a new certificate in the Tax Administration’s certificate service.

Instructions for renewing a test certificate

The instructions describe one way to perform the renewal of a certificate issued by the Tax Administration using the web service interface of the Tax Administration's certificate service. Based on the example, certificate renewal can be implemented to your own software.

The renewal of a testing certificate described in the instructions also applies to the renewal of a production certificate.

In the case of production certificates, actual customer data and the certificate service’s production address (URL) must be used.

  • If your testing certificate has expired, you must request a new testing certificate from the Tax Administration’s certificate service.
