Suomi.fi Messages and electronic tax mail – what will change in 2026?

Starting in 2026, letters from the Tax Administration and other authorities will be delivered only in electronic format to all those who use e-services, such as MyTax.

At present, receiving electronic mail is based on consent, i.e. the user must activate Suomi.fi Messages or enable electronic tax mail for companies. With pending legislative amendments, mail would be delivered electronically to all those who use e-services. Letters would be delivered on paper only to those who do not use e-services. In addition, the Tax Administration will continue to send paper post to guardians, for example.
