The tax number register will be updated in March 2024
News, 3/12/2024In March 2024, the details of all construction workers, and others active in the construction sector, for whom the Tax Administration has not received any employee reports, based on the reporting requirement in the construction industry during the past two years, will be removed from the public register of tax numbers.
Along with a personal ID, everyone has received a permanent tax number. The tax number must be entered into the public tax number register if the person works on a shared construction site. There are persons working on construction sites who must be registered in the public tax number register for the purposes of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, even though the obligation to report to the Tax Administration has been limited.
The tax number register will be updated in accordance with the data protection regulation that came into force in spring 2018. If the Tax Administration has not received information on a person in the employee reports, they will be removed from the register.
After the update, entries in the public tax number register can be checked as of 29 March 2024.
You can seek re-entry into the tax number register
Persons whose details are removed from the tax number register will not be separately notified. If needed, you can seek re-entry into the register by either calling the service number 029 497 070 (reports on construction work and tax numbers) or by visiting a tax office. If a person has a Finnish personal ID, they can enter their tax number into the tax number register in MyTax. The tax number will remain the same in case of re-entry.
Employers or project supervisors of construction sites can also request registration of their employees' tax numbers in the Ilmoitin.fi e-service.
