Around half a million individuals have their tax returns due next week – check the details and make additions if needed

Tax Administration Bulletin, 3/25/2025

Agricultural operators, business name entrepreneurs and their spouses must check their pre-completed tax returns on personal income on 1 April at the latest. 1 April is also the due date for agricultural and business tax returns.

You can easily check and make additions to your pre-completed tax return in MyTax.

“The same due date also applies to spouses of business name entrepreneurs and agricultural operators,” says Hanna Nykter-Terävä, Senior Adviser at the Tax Administration.

“Unmarried partners are also considered spouses if they have previously been married or if they have or have had a child in common,” says Nykter-Terävä.

The details on pensions received from Sweden are missing – the Tax Administration will correct the error automatically

Any income and deductions that the Tax Administration has not automatically included in the pre-completed tax return must be added. For example, you must add any income from rental actitivies to your tax return. You must also check that the pre-completed details are correct.

This year, pensions paid from Sweden to agricultural operators, business name entrepreneurs and their spouses in 2024 are missing from the tax returns.

“The Tax Administration will correct the error automatically, so there is no need to contact us about this matter. You must check the other details in your tax return, however, and make any additions necessary,” says Nykter-Terävä.

Subsidies for agriculture, forestry and business activities now in MyTax

Public subsidies, refunds of subsidies, and insurance indemnities relating to agriculture and forestry are now pre-completed on the tax returns of agricultural and forestry operators and self-employed individuals in MyTax. The tax return for forestry also includes any income from timber sales and related withholding.

The information is shown under Income on the tax return in MyTax.

“However, you must separately allow the use of subsidy and indemnity information in MyTax in order that the information would transfer to your tax return,” Hanna Nykter-Terävä points out.

"You can transfer the information to your tax return by selecting Use information. After the taxpayer has chosen to use the information, the details can still be edited."

If the taxpayer does not want to make use of annual information return information received from payors, the details can be added to the tax return as before.

Former customers of Handelsbank: remember to add your new bank account numbers

Due to a corporate acquisition, the majority of Handelsbanken customers were transferred to S-Pankki in December 2024. Old Handelsbanken accounts were closed at the end of November last year.

Hanna Nykter-Terävä wishes to remind taxpayers that the Tax Administration does not automatically receive information about new bank account numbers.

“Now that taxpayers log in to MyTax to check their tax returns, it is a good time to also submit new bank account numbers. In this way, taxpayers can ensure that they will receive any tax refunds on their bank accounts on the date when the refunds are paid,” says Nykter-Terävä.

Further, e-invoicing requests you have made will not be transferred to your new bank. You should submit a new e-invoicing request either in your new e-bank or on the Paying taxes and payment details page in MyTax.
