Lenders – remember to renew your certificate

10/29/2025

The technical certificates for the interfaces of the Positive credit register are valid for 2 years at a time. After that, you need to renew your certificates to continue using the interfaces. The first certificates are due to expire in November, so the first organisations will need to renew their certificates very soon.

How do we know when our certificate is about to expire?

You can check the expiry date of your certificate in the certificate information, for example with a command prompt. Check with your software provider to find out how the certificate expiry date can be viewed in the software you use. You can also see your organisation's certificates and their expiry date by logging in to the Tax Administration’s certificate service.

Our system also sends an automatic reminder message to the certificate’s technical contact person about a certificate that is due to expire, 60 days before its expiry. The message is sent from no-reply@vero.fi.

So please keep the contact details of the technical contact person for the certificate up to date so that you receive a reminder message.

How are certificates renewed?

Certificates for reporting data and using it expire every two years. The Positive credit register has two different types of certificate: a certificate for reporting data and a certificate for using it. Both certificates can be renewed in the interface while they are still valid, but no earlier than 60 days before the certificate expires.

What if a certificate is allowed to expire?

If you fail to renew your certificates on time and one or both of them expires, the certificate can no longer be renewed in the interface. Please note that, if your certificates expire, you can no longer report or receive data from the Positive credit register.

  • If your data reporting certificate expires, you can request a new certificate from the Tax Administration’s certificate service.
  • If your certificate for using data, i.e. receiving credit register extracts, expires, you will need to order a completely new certificate. A new certificate for using data cannot be ordered from the interface or from the certificate service, so it must always be requested
    • on our e-service via our contact form (contact us about data permission issues,  Report other changes) or
    • on our contact form if use of the e-service is not possible

You can find more information on renewing certificates on the Tax Administration’s certificate service page Renewal of certificate.
