Financial and debt counselling

Legal aid offices offer financial and debt counselling, assisting you in your everyday finances, such as how to plan your spending and stay within the budget. In addition, financial and debt counsellors provide assistance in debt matters, such as assessing your debt situation and applying for a debt settlement loan or a debt arrangement. You can contact the service even if you have little or no debt at the moment.

Enforcement tasks include the collection of monetary receivables, evictions and precautionary measures. Financial advice clinics

Financial advice clinics are a low-threshold service from which citizens can get financial advice from professionals in different fields without the need to make an appointment. There are about 30 financial advice clinics around Finland, and each clinic has a representative of at least National Enforcement Authority Finland and financial and debt counselling. Many of the clinics also have representatives of social services, parishes and Kela. The service is confidential and free of charge, and customers can remain anonymous.

Kela

The Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela) grants government guarantees for student loans, and banks submit information about the guarantees to the Positive credit register together with other credit information. If a guarantee receivable (student loan debt) is generated, Kela will report it to the register. Kela will also report any changes to the guarantee receivable, such as repayments, conclusion of a payment plan in a debt arrangement, and termination of the loan.
