Incorrect benefit income data on credit register extracts

10/15/2024

The Positive credit register has detected errors in the benefit income data on the credit register extracts. Benefits are reported to the Incomes Register using a benefits payment report. This benefit income data has, in certain situations, been ignored in the benefit income data calculations of the Positive credit register due to a problem in data transfer. This has led to the fact that the net income of the benefits and in some situations also the gross income have appeared too large on the credit register extracts. This problem has been present in the credit register extracts since the opening of the register. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We are investigating the scope of the error

We have located the problem in data transfer that has led to the incorrect data being transferred to the credit register extracts. We have begun procedures to correct the problem. We are currently also investigating how many individual customers and their credit register extracts the problem concerns. We will update the information as we have more detailed information.

Note to lenders

The income data calculation formula has been published on our website on the Excel file calculation of income data. The error detected now concerns the section "C - Deductions made in the calculation of net income" in the "Calculation of benefit income" sheet of the table. The deductions from point C have not been calculated in the data of the positive credit register extract. The incorrect data concerns, among others, individuals whose benefit income has been paid to substitute recipients.

We advise lenders to use their own judgment in their loan granting process until the error has been fully corrected. We have communicated about the error to the contact persons for content of the data requesting in more detail. We apologize for the incorrect data and for the inconvenience.
