If you move abroad, remember to take care of the following:

Report a change of address

Foreign citizen
If you move away from Finland permanently, submit a notification of move to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) within one week of the move. Also report your new address to the Finnish Tax Administration.

Finnish citizen
If you move away from Finland permanently, submit a notification of move to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) within one week of the move. The Tax Administration receives the information directly from DVV.
If you move away from Finland temporarily, report a temporary change of address to DVV. Report the change of address separately to the Finnish Tax Administration.
If your foreign address changes during your stay abroad, report the new address to both DVV and the Finnish Tax Administration.

Report a new foreign bank account number

We need your bank account number in order to pay any tax refunds you may receive.
You can submit your new account number in MyTax or on paper. You cannot report the account number by phone.
- Log in to MyTax if you have personal online banking codes or a mobile certificate.
- Submit your IBAN number on a paper form (7208e)
- Submit your non-IBAN number on a paper form (7201e)

Check your tax card

Your move abroad may affect your income tax assessment. If you receive income from Finland after moving abroad, request a change to your tax card.
If you have prepayments, remember to request that they should be reduced or removed. Keep in mind that unpaid prepayments and other taxes may be transferred to recovery. You may have prepayments regarding wages paid by a foreign employer, for example.
You can make changes to your tax card or prepayment amount in MyTax or by phone.

Check your tax return

In the spring of the year following the move, the Tax Administration will send you a pre-completed tax return, where you can see the details on your income and deductions for the year of move. Check the information on the tax return. If there is nothing to add or correct, you do not need to do anything.
If information is missing or it is inaccurate, you can make changes in MyTax or on a paper form.
